National Water and Sewerage Corporation (NWSC) has been named Best Sector Exhibitor at the 32nd Uganda International Trade Fair, a recognition of its outstanding showcase of services, innovations and contribution to public service delivery.
The award comes at a time when the Trade Fair, running under the theme “Formalising Trade to Secure Uganda’s Economic Future,” has brought together businesses and institutions to demonstrate their role in driving Uganda’s economic transformation.

According to the organizers, NWSC stood out not just for displaying its services, but for turning its exhibition space into an interactive platform where customers can understand how the Corporation is responding to the needs of a rapidly growing urban population.
NWSC’s exhibition is focusing on water quality management, sewerage services, and inclusive innovations aimed at expanding access to safe water. Among the key highlights is the Corporation’s Urban Pro-Poor initiative, which enables residents in informal settlements to access clean and safe water at UGX 25 per 20-litre jerrycan, making services more affordable for low-income communities.
The Corporation’s efforts also drew commendation from the Minister of Trade, Industry and Cooperatives, Hon. Sanjay Tanna, who visited the NWSC stall during the official opening.

Hon. Tanna, who was received by Senior Manager Public Relations Ms. Vivien Newumbe, applauded NWSC for its contribution to national development and highlighted the continued positive recognition of the Corporation’s work by H.E. President Yoweri Kaguta Museveni.
He noted that Uganda has made significant strides in expanding access to essential services, including safe water, compared to a time when many communities had limited access.
Addressing exhibitors at the opening ceremony, Hon. Tanna highlighted Uganda’s ambition to achieve tenfold economic growth under the Fourth National Development Plan (NDP IV), identifying agro-processing, tourism, mining, and science, technology and innovation as the four pillars of growth normally acxronymed to (ATMS). He emphasized President Museveni’s call for value addition, peace, rule of law and a stable financial sector as foundations for economic transformation.

For NWSC, the Trade Fair is an opportunity to reinforce a critical message that water and sanitation are not just social services, but economic enablers.
“Water and sanitation are part of the foundation on which communities, businesses and the wider economy depend,” the Corporation noted.
The recognition as Best Sector Exhibitor therefore affirms NWSC’s positioning as a key enabler of Uganda’s broader ambition building a more productive, inclusive and economically secure nation.
