POLICE SEIZES ANITA AMONG ROLLS ROYCE CULLINAN IN KIGO

Security operatives have impounded former Speaker of Parliament Anita Among by seizing  her newly bought a luxury Rolls-Royce vehicle from her residence in Kigo, Wakiso District, as part of an ongoing probe into alleged illicit enrichment and money laundering.

The Speaker of the Parliament of Uganda holds the third position in government and is the head of the legislative branch. The Speaker presides over legislative sessions, maintains order during debates, and ensures adherence to the Constitution and parliamentary rules.

The vehicle, loaded onto a Uganda Police low-bed carrier truck under heavy security deployment, was driven away from the lakeside property to an undisclosed location as detectives from the Criminal Investigations Directorate (CID), backed by UPDF personnel and other intelligence agencies, continued searching the premises.

The dramatic operation follows a series of coordinated raids that began over the weekend at Among’s residences in Nakasero, Ntinda and Kigo. Security teams reportedly spent hours combing through documents, electronic gadgets and other materials believed to be relevant to the investigations.

The seized vehicle is reportedly a Rolls-Royce Cullinan said to have been imported earlier this year under Anita Foundation Limited. The luxury SUV, estimated to be worth billions of shillings, sparked public debate after Among reportedly described it as a birthday gift from friends and business associates.

Authorities have not officially disclosed whether the vehicle itself is considered part of the suspected proceeds under investigation, but sources close to the operation say investigators are tracing high-value assets linked to the former Speaker amid mounting scrutiny over her declared wealth and sources of income.

The raids stem from a formal complaint lodged before the Inspector General of Government accusing Among of possible breaches of the Leadership Code Act through alleged undeclared or unexplained wealth.

Witnesses at the Kigo residence described a tense atmosphere as armed operatives sealed off access roads while forensic teams carried out searches inside the compound. Images and videos circulating online showed the Rolls-Royce being carefully hoisted onto the police carrier before being escorted away under tight security.

The widening investigation comes amid intense political pressure surrounding the leadership transition in Parliament and follows growing public criticism over extravagant spending by top public officials.

Meanwhile Anita Aong has with drawn from speaker race ahead of 25th may elections.
