The highly anticipated Continental Digital Government Africa (DGA) summit  opens in Kampala from October 6 to October 8, 2026, at the Speke Resort and Convention Centre in Munyonyo, Kampala.

The three days summit is poised to foster deep collaboration between policymakers and tech innovators, while positioning Uganda as a premier African destination for ICT investment.

Organized by Ministry of ICT and National Guidance, the National Information Technology Authority Uganda (NITA-U), and African Brains Global officially the major continental summit will run under the theme “Accelerating Africa’s Digital Transformation of Government.”

John Glassey, CEO of UK-based African Brains, highlighted strengthening partnership to advance continental digital governance.

NITA-U Executive Director Dr. Hatwib Mugasa commended African Brains Global for its consistent role in uniting governments, private sector leaders, innovators, and investors.

Hee noted that Uganda’s selection as the next host reflects strong international confidence in the country’s digital journey.

“Africa’s digital transformation must be collaborative. Countries are facing similar challenges, and there is a need to share lessons, avoid duplication, and develop solutions that are appropriate for our needs.”— Dr. Mugasa stated.

Highlighted Uganda’s GovTech Maturity Index stands he noted that Uganda stands at 0.79, placing the country firmly in the “Very High Maturity” global category.

The summit aligns with Uganda’s strategic Digital Transformation Roadmap, which focuses on infrastructure, e-government, cybersecurity, and digital skills. Key achievements driving this progress include:

According to ministry of ICT ,The National Backbone Infrastructure (NBI) now exceeds 5,000 kilometres of fibre optic cable, connecting over 1,500 government sites and powering systems like e-procurement and online tax services.

Uganda has surpassed 44.3 million active mobile connections, expanding 4G coverage and initiating 5G trials in urban areas.

The ICT sector contributes over 9% to national GDP, fueled by a surge in software services and mobile money transactions that hit tens of trillions of shillings annually.

The DGA 2026 conference will attract hundreds of delegates—including ICT ministers, regulators, and tech providers—to address critical digital pillars:digital identity systems and e-government services, government cloud infrastructure and cybersecurity resilience, artificial Intelligence (AI) governance and digital finance, electronic payments, and ICT innovation
