HAJJAT NAMYALO CHALLENGES PARENTS TO PROMOTE YOUTH TALENT

The Head of the Office of the National Chairman (ONC)NRM, Hajjat Hadijah Namyalo Uzeiye, has challenged parents to take a more active role in nurturing their children’s talents saying education should go beyond academic performance.

Speaking at  Kyanja Junior School Talent Show  she said co-curricular activities play an important role in the development of children because they help learners identify their abilities at an early age and provide an avenue through which those talents can be nurtured.

She also commended Kyanja Junior School for giving prominence to music, dance, drama and sports, saying such activities help children develop discipline, teamwork, confidence, creativity and important social values.

Namyalo urged parents not to limit their responsibility to paying school fees and providing other scholastic material needs, but to remain present in their children’s lives and take an interest in their education, talents, character and emotional wellbeing.

She further commended parents for their commitment to educating their children and encouraged them to provide consistent academic, emotional and social support.

The talent show, held under the theme “Promoting Morals and Social Values through Music, Dance and Drama,” brought together pupils, parents and teachers to showcase and celebrate the learners’ abilities outside the conventional classroom setting.

The event featured performances in music, dance and drama, giving pupils an opportunity to demonstrate their creativity while building confidence and other skills that complement formal education.

Hajjat Namyalo commended fathers who continue to meet their responsibilities towards their children and recognised their efforts and sacrifices made by single mothers in raising and supporting their families.

She  encouraged parents to take advantage of government programmes intended to improve household incomes and reduce poverty, regardless of their political affiliations.

she said economically empowered families are better placed to meet their children’s educational needs and provide a stable environment in which children can develop their talents.

Hajjat Namyalo pledged to support community empowerment initiatives and expressed interest in exploring opportunities through which teachers at Kyanja Junior School could also benefit from such interventions adding that  teachers play a central role in shaping children’s academic and personal development and should therefore be supported to improve their welfare and ability to deliver quality education.

Hajjat Namyalo further commended the school for embracing the new curriculum, which places greater emphasis on a holistic approach to education by combining academic learning with practical skills and co-curricular activities.

She said the approach was important in preparing learners for a changing world where academic qualifications need to be complemented by practical abilities, creativity, discipline and social skills.

“The development of a child cannot be measured by academic results alone. We must also look at the talents, discipline, values and practical skills that the child develops,” she said.

She thanked the teachers for their dedication to educating and nurturing the pupils and noted that improving teachers’ economic wellbeing was equally important in ensuring quality education

She said investing in children was essential to producing a skilled, responsible and productive generation capable of contributing meaningfully to the country’s development.

The School’s Head Teacher, Henry senyimba , thanked Hajjat Namyalo for honouring the invitation and commended her for her humility, commitment and continued service to the country.

She said the school appreciated her decision to spend time with the pupils, parents and teachers and described her engagement as an encouragement to the school community.
