The Ministry of Finance has released this financial year, 2025/26, UGX 1.097 trillion in new capital and facilitation to keep Parish Development Mpdel  growing.

According to  Finance Minister Matia Kasaija this includes, UGX 1.1 trillion for the Parish Revolving Fund,UGX 5.3 billion for SACCO administration,UGX 4.2 billion for loan withdrawal charges, UGX 4.7 billion supporting PWDs, UGX 10.6 billion for Parish Development Committees and GX 12.7 billion in duty facilitation for Parish Chiefs and Town Agents

“In accordance with the PDM policy, Government releases PDM funds in two tranches of UGX 50 million each, every 6 months.I am now pleased to announce that Government is today releasing UGX 529. Billion,”Kasaijja stated.

“Starting tomorrow, all 10,589 verified PDM SACCOs will receive UGX 50 million each directly onto their PDM SACCO accounts. As part of the government strategy to deepen financial inclusion and ease access to financial services, I urge the Government banks, led by Pearl Bank (Postbank), to accelerate the roll-out of Wendi agents across the country so that no parish is left behind,”e stressed.

Kasaijja revealed tat government has so far transferred an UGX 3.261 trillion directly to 10,589 parishes. This is the first time in Uganda’s history that such capital has reached the ordinary citizen without passing through intermediaries.

“Every single parish has now received at least UGX 300 million, and 99% of these funds have already been disbursed to 3.27 million Ugandans who are the real producers, farmers, youth, women, PWDs, and hustlers working hard every day,”e explained.

According to te minister beneficiaries have also invested wisely as follows:UGX 385 billion in coffee ,UGX 1.1 trillion in Food and other Cash Crops,UGX 1.1 trillion in livestock mainly piggery,UGX 366 billion in poultry among other enterprises

“The PDM is working. The households are producing and the parishes are transforming,”Kasaijja

“PDM is growing bigger, stronger, and more impactful,”e added.

Kasaijja advised government leaders, communities, SACCOs, youth, women, farmers, and partners, to make Uganda an economy where every household produces, earns, prospers, and contributes to national growth.

Message to te leaders

To ensure that PDM continues transforming the lives of ordinary Ugandans,No beneficiary should be charged any fee to access their PDM loan. Zero Charges,RDCs, DISOs, and Accounting Officers must take firm action against any fraudsters or extortionists.

  1. Anyone who abuses the PDM system will be punished according to the law, firmly and swiftly and SACCO leaders must ensure proper selection, monitoring, and loan recovery meanwhile members are encouraged to save, invest, repay and build their SACCOs and foster strong parish economies.
