In a monumental achievement for East Africa’s hospitality sector, Speke Resort Munyonyo has been named the Best Luxury MICE Resort Globally at the prestigious 2026 Luxe Global Awards. This international accolade firmly establishes Uganda on the global map as a premier destination for high-end corporate events, conferences, and luxury tourism.

The award recognises Speke Resort Munyonyo for its world-class facilities and its exceptional capacity to host Meetings, Incentives, Conferences, and Exhibitions (MICE) at the highest international standards.

In a statement celebrating the milestone, the resort expressed gratitude to its clientele and stakeholders. “We are incredibly excited to announce that we are official winners at the 2026 Luxe Global Awards as the Best Luxury MICE Resort Globally,” the management noted, attributing the success to the continuous support of their guests and partners.

Nestled on the scenic shores of Lake Victoria in Kampala, Speke Resort Munyonyo has long been the preferred venue for high-profile diplomatic engagements, corporate conventions, and major international exhibitions. This latest accolade elevates the resort alongside the world’s elite hospitality brands and underscores the rising competitiveness of Uganda’s luxury tourism market.

The global recognition arrives at a strategic time for Uganda, as the nation aggressively positions conference tourism as a key driver for foreign direct investment, job creation, and economic growth. With its sprawling state-of-the-art convention facilities, premium accommodations, and idyllic lakeside setting, Speke Resort Munyonyo continues to anchor the country’s ambitious drive to host large-scale global gatherings.

The Munyonyo Convention Center Expansion: Opened recently at Speke Resort Munyonyo on the shores of Lake Victoria, this $47 million world-class hub features a 3,800-delegate main hall, 33 breakout rooms, and 5 ballrooms. It successfully anchored massive global gatherings like the 19th Non-Aligned Movement (NAM) Summit and the G77+China Summit.

Uganda’s potential to host MICE tourism is reaching an all-time high, transforming the country from a traditional leisure safari destination into one of Africa’s fastest-growing business travel hubs. Driven by massive infrastructure developments and a targeted government push, Uganda is leveraging its geographic and natural advantages to aggressively claim its share of the global business events market

The worldwide MICE market is multi-billion-dollar and projected to reach approximately $1.8 trillion by 2031.
