Uganda’s first Miss Universe Uganda, Mitchelle Daka  is set to begin her global tour  to represent the country at the Miss Universe competition in Puerto Rico in November.

Daka, who was crowned Miss Universe Uganda on August 1, 2026, toured the brewery alongside first runner-up Kimberly Jael Aremo and Top Supermodel Teopista Aromach.

The visit was organised by V&A Sherry to celebrate the queens’ achievements and Daka’s historic victory, which will make her the first Ugandan to compete at the Miss Universe competition in its 75-year history.

Daka’s visit also marked the next phase of her partnership with V&A Sherry, which selected her as its Face of V&A before the Miss Universe Uganda finale.

Roy Ronald Tumwizere, Brand Manager of V&A Sherry, said the brewery hosted the queens to celebrate their achievement and give them an opportunity to experience where the brand is produced.

“We decided to host the queens to show them where the amazing V&A Sherry is made, to show our support and congratulate them upon winning. They will be going to the global pageants, and we promise to keep supporting them as they represent our country on the global stage,” Tumwizere said.

As Face of V&A and brand ambassador, Daka will represent the brand under its “Yours to Share” philosophy, which focuses on sharing achievements and meaningful moments with others.

UBL Marketing Director Catherine Ndungu congratulated Daka, Aremo and Aromach and praised the women who participated in the inaugural Miss Universe Uganda competition.

“First, allow me to say that you all look so beautiful. I and the team here are very proud of you, and we are excited to see what the partnership with Miss Universe Uganda means for the brand,” Ndungu said.

UBL Head of Spirits Hilda Aguti also congratulated the queens and said the partnership with Miss Universe Uganda aligned with V&A Sherry’s focus on women’s empowerment.

“We congratulate you for winning, and we would like to see what our partnership with the Miss Universe platform is going to be like beyond the run. We appreciate the good work done by Joram and team because it is in line with what V&A stands for, women empowerment,” Aguti said.

The queens toured the UBL brewery, where they met members of the company’s leadership and learnt about the production environment behind V&A Sherry.

Joram Muzira, Director of Miss Universe Uganda, thanked V&A Sherry for supporting the inaugural pageant and its efforts to create opportunities for women.

“We are so grateful to V&A Sherry for supporting our cause to empower women. We are so excited that they chose us at our maiden event, and our queens will be bearing the flag at the global stages, starting with Mitchelle at the Miss Universe pageant in Puerto Rico in November,” Muzira said.

For Daka, the visit was also an opportunity to acknowledge a partnership that began before she won the national crown.

She thanked V&A Sherry for believing in her and choosing her as Face of V&A before the pageant, saying she hoped the partnership would benefit both sides as she takes on her new responsibilities.

Daka will now turn her attention to preparations for the Miss Universe competition in Puerto Rico, where she will represent Uganda on the global stage.

V&A Sherry said it would continue supporting Daka as she embarks on a year expected to bring new opportunities and milestones.

The visit also celebrated the achievements of Daka, Aremo and Aromach and highlighted the role of pageantry in providing women with platforms to showcase their talents and represent Uganda internationally.

Mitchelle Daka is an international fashion model, entrepreneur, fitness enthusiast, podcaster and mental wellness advocate whose journey has taken her from eastern Uganda to South Africa, Dubai and now onto one of the world’s biggest stages.re and hardworking communities.

She earned a Bachelor of Business Administration (BBA) and later pursued further studies in South Africa, where she expanded both her academic and professional horizons.
