The State Minister for Energy Phina Nyamutooro has reaffirmed that Uganda’s energy future will be shaped by technology, innovation and sustainability.

Speaking in line with the National Development Plan IV and the Government’s tenfold economic growth strategy, she emphasized that energy must go beyond powering homes to driving industrialisation, creating decent jobs, boosting productivity and transforming lives.

“As per NDPIV and the Government’s ambition of achieving the ten fold economic growth strategy, our responsibility is no longer simply to increase electricity generation or extend transmission lines. Our responsibility is to ensure that energy becomes the engine that accelerates industrialization, creates wealth, improves productivity, generates decent jobs and transforms the lives of our people,”she said.

“We therefore see energy not merely as infrastructure but as an economic infrastructure. Every megawatt we generate should power a factory, every transmission line should unlock production, every mineral extracted should support value addition, every technology we deploy should improve efficiency, reduce costs and create new opportunities for enterprise.,”she added..
