POST BANK UGANDA RECEIVES SUSTAINABILITY CERTIFICATION

Post Bank Uganda has received Sustainability Certification from the European Organization for Sustainable Development (EOSD) — a globally recognized authority in sustainable finance and development.

The certification was officially awarded during a handover ceremony held in Germany on September 25, 2025.

Based in Germany, EOSD is internationally acknowledged for advancing sustainable development through strategic partnerships, programs, and initiatives — especially within the financial services sector. The organization’s Sustainability Standards and Certification Initiative (SSCI) sets rigorous criteria that distinguish value-driven institutions genuinely committed to sustainable practices.

According to officials from EOSD, the certification is a testament to PostBank Uganda’s alignment with global best practices in responsible banking, positioning the institution as a regional leader in sustainable finance.

Speaking after receiving the certification, Julius Kakeeto, Managing Director of PostBank Uganda, said the recognition affirms the bank’s strategic transformation agenda outlined in its 2024–2029 five-year plan.

“Sustainability is now embedded in our bank’s strategy, products, services, and operations. This enables us to go beyond profitability and make a lasting impact on society, the economy, and the environment,” said Kakeeto.

He added that the bank’s indigenous roots inspire its mission to foster financial inclusion, support entrepreneurship, and drive economic transformation in key sectors such as agriculture and SMEs.

“Our digital wallet, Wendi, is at the forefront of inclusive finance — empowering every Ugandan with a mobile phone to save, invest, and transact securely and affordably both locally and internationally.”

Mr. Arshad Rab, CEO of EOSD and Chairman of SSCI, commended PostBank Uganda for its strategic pivot toward sustainability and for demonstrating that profitability and impact can go hand in hand.

“More than ever, customers and stakeholders are gravitating toward purpose-driven financial institutions. Post Bank’s certification is proof that banks can deliver economic value and social good while protecting natural assets,” he noted.

In addition to the global sustainability certification, PostBank was recognized earlier this year with multiple accolades at the Bank of Uganda’s Agriculture Credit Facility (ACF) and Small Business Recovery Fund (SBRF) award ceremony held in June 2025. The bank received five awards and 11 certificates, including Best Performing Bank under both schemes, highlighting its role in driving inclusive and sustainable agricultural financing — a key pillar of Uganda’s development goals.

With this milestone, PostBank Uganda cements its position as a trailblazer in sustainable banking, contributing meaningfully to Uganda’s transition toward a resilient, inclusive, and environmentally conscious economy.
