Nsambya Hospital has received a significant addition to its neonatal care capabilities, thanks to the support of the African Neonatal Network (ANN).
The hospital has received advanced neonatal equipment, including breathing support machines and emergency resuscitation tools used in the care of premature babies and newborns who need critical support in their earliest moments of life.
Speaking on behalf of the hospital, Dr. Victoria Nakibuuka, Resident Neonatologist at Nsambya Hospital, welcomed the development:
“This support strengthens what our teams work towards every day ensuring that newborns at Nsambya receive quality, specialized care close to home. Our Neonatal Unit manages the care of over 150 babies each month, supported by a dedicated team of neonatologists, nurses, and healthcare staff providing round-the-clock care to newborns requiring intensive care services. This equipment will strengthen our ability to respond effectively and improve outcomes for the babies entrusted to us.”

For decades, Nsambya Hospital has served mothers, newborns, and children from across Uganda and beyond. We remain committed to building on that trust for our patients and their families.
“We are grateful to the African Neonatal Network for this support, and proud to be part of a network dedicated to improving newborn care across Africa. Every newborn life matters,”Nakibuuka stated.
