The Manager  Office of the National Chairman, Hadijah Namyalo Uzeiye, has extended Ramadan food relief to  Wakiso District Muslim families at Masjid Saeed Al Majdour in Kasangati Town Council as part of a district wide outreach aimed at supporting vulnerable households during the holy month.

The visit formed part of the second day of activities in the area, where essential food supplies were handed over to fasting families in order to ease on iftar.

At Masjid Saeed Al Majdour, Hajjat Namyalo was received by ONC Wakiso Coordinator Henry Luzinda, NRM Chairperson Mayanja Laurence, Women’s League Chairperson Hannifa Nsubuga, Sheikh Erias Kigozi, Sheikh Katongole Abdullatif and Imam Badru Byamugisha, together with other local leaders and members of the Muslim community.

The leaders described the outreach as timely, noting that many households face financial strain during Ramadan.

Addressing congregants inside the mosque, Hajjat Namyalo urged Muslims to use the sacred month as a period of sincere repentance and self examination.

She called for discipline, transparency and a renewed commitment to living out the values of faith in daily life. “This is the month to return to Allah and correct what is wrong in our hearts,” she said, encouraging believers to dedicate time to night prayers and seek peace within their families and communities.

Sheikh Erias Kigozi thanked her for what he termed consistent engagement with the Muslim community in Wakiso observing that the district hosts hundreds of mosques and a growing population of faithful.

He said the distribution of food items would directly benefit fasting families who often struggle to provide daily meals during the holy month. Imam Badru Byamugisha also expressed appreciation, saying the gesture demonstrated solidarity and concern for ordinary believers.

The outreach later extended to Masjid Jamia Katangawuzi in Nansana and Masjid Noor in Wakiso Town, where similar distributions were carried out. At each location, packages containing posho, rice, beans and milk were handed over to selected beneficiaries, including elderly residents and low income families.

Beyond the relief exercise, Namyalo encouraged the Muslim community to embrace economic empowerment initiatives, including participation in the upcoming launch of Islamic insurance scheduled for March 10th at City Square in Kampala. The event is expected to be officiated by President Yoweri Kaguta Museveni.

She emphasized that safeguarding property through lawful and structured financial mechanisms is consistent with responsible planning and community resilience.

As the exercise concluded in Wakiso, beneficiaries expressed gratitude for the support, saying it would help sustain their families through the fasting period.

The ONC Ramadan outreach is expected to continue in other parts of the Greater Kampala Metropolitan Area in the coming days, reinforcing a message of faith, responsibility and shared community support.

Ramadan (or Ramzan) is the ninth month of the Islamic calendar, observed worldwide as a month of fasting, prayer, reflection, and community. Muslims abstain from food, drink, and smoking from dawn to sunset to foster self-discipline, empathy for the needy, and closeness to God. It begins in 2026 around February 17 and lasts 29-30 days, ending with Eid al-Fitr
