LANDS MINISTER SWEARS IN SURVEYORS AND ARCHICTECTS  REGISTRATION BOARD

The Ministry of Lands, Housing and Urban Development has swone in new members of the 20th Surveyors Registration Board and 14th Architects Registration Board.

Lands Permanent Secretary Dorcus Okalany congratulated the new Board Members upon the successful appointment to serve on the 20th Surveyors Registration Board and 14th Architects Registration Board. 

“Members of the Boards, I want to inform you that, you have been called by God to serve the people of Uganda with the mandate of steering the Surveying and Architects fraternity.

The Surveying fraternity covers several professionals in the Country i.e. Land Surveyors, Valuation Surveyors, Quantity Surveyors, Hydrological Surveyors amongst others, while the Architects fraternity has only architects. Please endeavor to serve them diligently for the betterment of our Country.,”she stated.

 She also welcomed them to the Ministry of Lands, Housing and Urban Development and informed them that ministry of lands is ready to work the new team.

“The Ministry has embarked on several interventions which are aimed at among others enhancing the surveying and architects professions and restoring confidence in the land sector and these interventions require the support of the Boards. We are sure this new Boards that have just been sworn in will be influential at providing the necessary technical support,”  Okalany stated.

 Lands Minister  Judith Nabakooba cautioned the new broad to regulate and control the profession of Surveyors and the activities of Registered Surveyors with in the Country.

“We all know, the surveying profession is a very important component of the land administration and management system in Uganda. It plays a critical role in ensuring security of tenure thorough surveying and mapping of land parcels.It is also mandated to advise the Government on matters relating to surveying in the Country,”Nabakooba stated

She asked the new Board to ensure that the profession of surveyors and the activities of registered surveyors are regulated and controlled and  Undertake continuous training and development of the surveyors’ profession in the Country;

“The Architects Registration Board is mandated to regulate designs, construction and conservation of sustainable structures; starting from the basic home structures. The Architecture profession is a very important component of the built environment.To regulate and maintain the standard of architecture in the Country, register Architects, regulate the conduct of architects in Uganda,make bye-laws for better carrying into effect the provisions of the Act and promote training in the architectural science in the Country.

She urged the new Board to build on the achievements of the outgoing Boards and be able to avert the challenges faced by the profession of surveyors and architects and come up with strategies to strengthen their professions. 

“let me take this opportunity to congratulate the Members of the 20th Surveyors Registration Board and 14th Architects Registration Board upon appointment to serve on the Boards. I also want to re-echo the need to ensure proper regulation, inspection and control of all the activities of professional and registered surveyors and architects and as well be able to adequately guide the Government on matters related to surveying and architecture in our Country,”

New Board members of the 14th architects registration board is headed by Arch. Jacqueline Namayanja

a registered Architect (ARB No. 268) and a member of the Uganda Society of Architects and President of The Uganda Society of Architects

Arch. Mark Bwambale a registered Architect (ARB Reg. 116) and a cooperate member of Uganda Society of Architects.

Arch. Mark Bwambale is a Partner at Regenesys, an architectural practice he co-founded in 2016 with the underlying ethos to mitigate and reverse negative impacts of the building industry on the earth ecosystem.

Arch. Verna Mbabazi Mwinganisa a registered Architect (ARB Reg. 126) and a member of Uganda Society of Architects.

Arch. Shem Sebbowa a registered Architect (ARB Reg. 24186) and a cooperate member of the Uganda Society of Architects.
