Ethiopian Airlines, Africa’s leading carrier has celebrated a remarkable market share growth in Uganda and recognized its travel partners for their role in helping the airline maintain its market leadership in Uganda.

With over 40 percent market share, Ethiopian Airlines remains the top player in Uganda’s aviation market.

Ms. Bethelehem Fisseha, Ethiopian Airlines Country Manager for Uganda, expressed deep gratitude to the airline’s partners and travel agents, whose unwavering support she credited for the airline’s impressive growth.

“We know we wouldn’t have achieved this milestone without your continued support, so I would like to extend my heartfelt thanks and appreciation to each and every one of you,” Ms. Fisseha said.

She added, “On behalf of Ethiopian Airlines and our management, we value your partnership and look forward to continued collaboration and success.”

The colorful event was attended by travel industry players who were awarded for their support to the airline.

Established in 1945, Ethiopian Airlines is Africa’s largest and most profitable airline, serving over 130 international destinations across five continents. Its hub at Addis Ababa Bole International Airport is one of the busiest in Africa.

Barungi Emmanuel, General Manager of Entebbe International Airport, commended Ethiopian Airlines for its consistency and regional connectivity efforts.

“I thank Ethiopian Airlines for looking back and recognizing the people who make its work possible,”Barungi said. “Your expansion is a testament to your vision and resilience, and a significant boost to regional and international connectivity for Uganda and the region.”

He noted that Ethiopian Airlines is among the top three airlines in terms of flight frequency in and out of Entebbe International Airport.

He also praised the airline’s cargo operations, which he said have significantly contributed to Uganda’s export economy.

“Through their dedicated cargo freighters, Ethiopian Airlines facilitates freight and opens up export opportunities for Ugandan businessmen,” he added. “We at the Uganda Civil Aviation Authority and Entebbe International Airport value this long-standing partnership.”

The event concluded with a reaffirmation of mutual commitment to strengthening Uganda’s aviation sector and boosting economic growth through strategic partnerships and expanded route networks.

Ethiopian Airlines is the national airline of Ethiopia and the largest airline in Africa, known for its extensive network, including both passenger and cargo flights. It operates from its main hub at Bole International Airport in Addis Ababa, serving 125 passenger destinations worldwide, including 21 domestic destinations. The airline also has a significant presence in Africa, with daily and multiple flights connecting Addis Ababa to various cities across the continent.
