In a drastic move aimed to uplift women in all spaces of work, Ministry of Energy top officials have appointed Dr Patricia Litho as the Assistant Commissioner in charge of Communications.

The decision follows a thorough selection process identifying Litho as a pivotal figure in steering the ministry’s communication strategies amidst ongoing challenges and opportunities in the energy sector.

Dr Patricia Litho a seasoned communication specialist joins the Ministry of Energy with lots of academic proficiency in the realm of communication.

She Holds a Ph.D. in Innovation and Cultural Studies from the University of East London, a Master of Arts in Communications from Schiller International University, and a Bachelor of Arts from Makerere University.

According to Permanent Secretary Ministry of Energy Irene Batebe, Litho brings an intricate dynamics of communication to the ministry.

“Her extensive professional journey, notably as the Principal Communications Officer at the Rural Electricity Agency, underscores her practical expertise in navigating the complexities of communication in the public sector,” Batebe said.

During her tenure, at Rural Electrification Agency, Litho earned accolades in management of communication crises and her ability to effectively disseminate the agency’s messages to diverse stakeholders.

In her capacity as the newly appointed Assistant Commissioner of Communications, Litho steps into the forefront of the Ministry of Energy’s communication efforts.

Her vision is clear: to enhance transparency, engagement, and effectiveness in communicating the ministry’s policies and initiatives to both internal and external audiences.

She replaces Solomon Muyita, who also sat for the interviews and emerged as the second candidate, now serving as her deputy.

This strategic appointment not only brings Litho’s wealth of experience to the forefront but also ensures a seamless transition and collaboration within the ministry’s communication team.

Litho’s leadership comes at a crucial juncture for the Ministry of Energy, as the department grapples with various challenges ranging from policy implementations to public perceptions.

Her appointment signifies a renewed commitment to transparency and accountability, as well as a proactive approach to engaging stakeholders and the public in meaningful dialogue.

As she settles into her new role, Litho’s focus remains steadfast on driving tangible improvements in communication strategies within the Ministry of Energy.

With her blend of academic precision , practical experience, and strategic foresight, she is poised to chart a course towards enhanced communication outcomes that will resonate positively within Uganda’s energy landscape for years to come.
