The Executive Director and Chief Statistician of Uganda  Bureau of Statistics Dr. Chris N. Mukiza  has hosted a delegation from the Danish Embassy to discuss matters pertaining  to statistical Cooperation and capcity building partnership.

This meeting follows an earlier engagement between the Denmark Ambassador to Uganda and the Uganda Bureau of Statistics (UBOS) aimed at establishing a long-term working relationship between UBOS and Statistics Denmark.

The partnership will be anchored on three strategic areas:capacity building, strengthening bilateral relations, and enhancing public–private partnerships.

The collaboration will prioritize diversifying statistical production, with a strong emphasis on climate change statistics, an area increasingly essential for national planning and global reporting.

In his remarks, the Executive Director and Chief Statistician Dr Chris Mukiza appreciated the Danish delegation for their commitment to strengthening statistical data management

He further emphasized that the digitization of administrative data will be key going forward, particularly to ensure that vital records such as births, deaths, and National Identification Numbers are fully integrated within the National Statistical System.

Dr Mukiza also called for concerted efforts from both parties to ensure the success and sustainability of this partnership.

Speaking on behalf of the Danish team, Jaspa Ellemose Jersen noted that the collaboration will support the development of a strong National Statistical System, increase funding and political support for statistics, generate greater demand for data products, and promote evidence-based decision-making.

He stressed that the program will enhance dissemination, analysis, and compilation of relevant statistical products.

Present at the meeting  included Jacob Jepsen, Michael Skoubo, and Sarah Fortunate.

Meanwhile In the coming days, the delegation will meet selected UBOS officials led by the Director of Methodology and Statistical Coordination Services, Mr. Thomas Rutaro to develop a detailed strategy and roadmap for implementation.

The program is expected to run until 2035, marking a significant step in strengthening Uganda’s statistical development agenda.
