As Head of Government Business and Prime Minister  of Uganda Robinah Nabbanja has pledged to strengthen inter-ministerial service delivery coordination mechanisms, a key policy commitment in the NRM Party Manifesto aimed to reduce corruption in Uganda.

According to IGG Uganda loses whopping shs 10trillion annually to corruption inform of procurement and 82% of local government job applicants admitting to paying bribes to secure employment, sometimes having to take out loans to do so

Prime Minister Robinah Nabbanja’s renewed pledge to service delivery centers on accelerating grassroots socioeconomic transformation and strictly monitoring all government agencies, ministries, and local governments to meet the objectives of the National Development Plan IV and the government’s Tenfold Growth Strategy

Key commitments outlined by the Prime Minister and the new cabinet include leading government business in Parliament efficiently and driving the legislative agenda to provide coherent, high-quality support to citizens and the private sector.

This pledge is reinforced by the broader cabinet, which recently committed to aggressive anti-corruption drives and structural accountability reforms across various sectors.

Nabbanja made the remarks at the  official handover of office by several ministers at the Office of the President In Kampala.

She noted that it was incumbent upon the newly sworn-in ministerial team to work diligently within their respective mandates and ensure the effective implementation of government policies and guidelines that foster development among communities.

Nabbanja said that under her renewed mandate, she would ensure that all pending projects and programmes initiated by the outgoing government are fully implemented.

She thanked the President for entrusting them with their new responsibilities, noting that her office, which oversees service delivery across government, would take firmer action against ministers who fail to effectively implement the NRM Manifesto, upon which voters granted the government another five-year mandate.

Nabbanja thanked the Second Deputy Prime Minister and Deputy Leader of Government Business in Parliament, Gen. Moses Ali, for mentoring her and providing valuable guidance that helped shape her leadership agenda at the Office of the Prime Minister (OPM).

She also applauded the First Deputy Prime Minister and Minister for East African Community Affairs, Dr. Rebecca Kadaga, for offering insightful leadership and support that strengthened her ability to guide government operations.

The incoming Second Deputy Prime Minister and Deputy Leader of Government Business in Parliament, Dr. Crispus Walter Kiyonga, said he was ready to work with all stakeholders both within and outside Parliament. He pledged to strengthen efforts aimed at combating household poverty through the effective implementation of government policies and programmes.

The Third Deputy Prime Minister and Minister Without Portfolio, Hajjati Rukia Isanga Nakadama, thanked the President for entrusting her with the new leadership mandate. She said she would serve with guidance from Allah, the Almighty provider of wisdom and knowledge.

The incoming State Minister for Bunyoro Affairs, Mary Mugasa, pledged to seek political guidance from her immediate predecessor, Jennifer Namuyangu.

“Being a native of the Bunyoro sub-region, I have not been fully conversant with some of the region’s political dynamics. This is why Namuyangu’s experience and strategic guidance will be invaluable in ensuring the smooth delivery of services in the region,” Mugasa said.
