Uganda’s Luganda flow rapper Gravity Omutujju is smiling ear to ear and soon eat big.

Thanks to his Okwepicha song that has earned him a place as sound track in British Movie dubbed Queenie.

The show follows the life of Queenie, a 25-year-old Jamaican-British woman navigating the ups and downs of life in South London.

“Okwepicha” is one of the soundtracks in the episode. The song has a catchy beat and a great vibe.

Released in 2023, Okwepicha was dissed by many music critics however, it became a hit as even a child as young as 4 years old could sing at least a few words of the chorus.

On YouTube, it has about 2 million views. Just like it was a shock that it became a hit in Uganda, it’s now even more shocking that it has broken barriers across the globe.

Meanwhile, this isn’t the first time Ugandan music has been used on an international stage. Eddy Kenzo’s “Mbilo Mbilo” was used in the movie Holiday In The Wild. Also, Pia Pounds’ “Tupaate” was used in the reality show, Young, Famous & African.

Now with his Kuwulira Bubi that has taken Kampala by storm Gravity is destined for bigger things.

Gravity Biography

Gereson Wabuyi, professionally known as Gravity Omutujju stands tall as a prominent Ugandan rapper whose music echoes the streets and stories of his homeland.

Born in Nakulabye in 1993, his journey from humble beginnings to becoming a revered figure in the music industry is a testament to his unwavering dedication.

Gravity’s passion for music took root during his years at Old Kampala Secondary School, where he adopted the moniker “Gravity Omutujju” as his stage name. At the tender age of 17, he inked a deal with Redemption Studios, a pivotal moment that marked the inception of his musical voyage. His very first track, “Joanita,” was a product of this partnership, foreshadowing the hits that would follow.

A significant juncture arrived when Gravity joined forces with Born Fire, a collective based in Makindye. This collaboration opened doors to connect with fellow artists, leading to a series of creative partnerships that enriched his musical repertoire. Notably, Gravity Omutujju’s artistry has often been distinguished by his candid critiques of fellow musicians, making him a thought-provoking voice in the industry.

Gravity’s discography reads like a memoir of his artistic evolution. From “Walumbe zaya” in 2011 to “Bitandise” in 2020, his albums have woven tales of life, resilience, and the vibrant spirit of Uganda. Along this musical journey, accolades and recognition have adorned his path. His breakout came in 2013, crowned as the Teeniez Breakout Artist and clinching the Best Hip Hop Song award at the HiPipo Music Awards.

His music resonates far beyond the stage, earning him recognition in various categories, such as the prestigious MTN Hip Hop Awards where he was hailed for his remarkable contributions.

As the beats of his music continue to resound, Gravity Omutujju remains an embodiment of artistic growth, resilience, and the power of one man’s voice to touch the hearts and minds of his people. His story is a living testament to the fact that, from Nakulabye to the world stage, the force of gravity knows no bounds.
