NAMYALO LAUNCHES WAKISO MUSLIM SACCO

The Coordinator of Office of the National Chairman (ONC), Hajjat Hadijah Namyalo, has launched Wakiso Muslim Women Multipurpose Cooperative Society Limited, a SACCO formed following her  lobbying efforts to secure financial support for the economic empowerment of Muslim women in Wakiso District.

Addressing hundreds of worshippers and community members at Masjid Rahman in Nansana Municipality, Wakiso District on Sunday, Namyalo  urged muslims to embrace family responsibility, discipline, and economic self reliance to alleviate  house hold poverty.

She warned moslem men against marrying multiple wives without  financial  stability in their families.

She also encouraged women to embrace government programmes  to boost their financial independence.

“Women should not be slaves to circumstances. You can be a responsible housewife and still run a business that supports your family,” she stated.

Namyalo  pledged  sh 20 million in financial support women’s SACCO, sh 5 million to men’s SACCO and sh 5 million to youth SACCO in Wakiso District.

However, she clarified that the funds would be disbursed after the election period, explaining that the decision was made to comply with electoral guidelines and avoid any perception that the support was politically motivated.

“This support is about empowerment, not politics. The funds will be accessed after elections to ensure transparency,” she stated.

Namyalo further encouraged community members to take advantage of government wealth creation programs such as Emyooga, GROW, and the Parish Development Model (PDM), describing them as key tools for reducing household poverty.

The Ugandan government has invested over UGX 3.2 trillion in the Parish Development Model  since its launch, with a recent release of UGX 529 billion in late 2025 to capitalize Parish SACCOs, bringing total transfers to 10,589 parishes to at least UGX 300 million each, mostly disbursed to 3.27 million beneficiaries for productive investments

She  pledged to continue advocating for more empowerment opportunities for Muslim women, including access to equipment such as sewing machines and other tools for income generation.

Wakiso District Khadi, Sheikh Erias Kigozi, commended Namyalo for  her humility and commitment to serving disadvantaged communities, particularly the poor and vulnerable citing her involvement in mobilizing support for income-generating initiatives and startup capital aimed at improving livelihoods.

The event concluded with prayers and calls for unity, economic empowerment, and community participation in national development initiatives
