Speaker of Parliament Anita Annet Among has expressed interest to work with her long-time rival, Rebecca Kadaga, after securing a landslide victory in the National Resistance Movement (NRM) Central Executive Committee elections.

“I want to express my gratitude to our mother, Rt Hon Rebecca Kadaga, for running an excellent campaign and her significant contributions to the party and our country. We will rely on her for advice and guidance in the days ahead.”

Among, who was declared winner of the NRM 2nd National Vice Chairperson (Female) seat with 11,680 votes against Kadaga’s 902, took to her X handle to thank delegates and pledge unity within the ruling party.

“Dear delegates, I am truly grateful for your love and support, not just today but throughout the campaign trail. With deep humility, I accept this landslide victory,” she wrote.

In a reconciliatory tone, the Speaker lauded her predecessor for her role in the party’s journey.

Rebecca Alitwala Kadaga is a Ugandan lawyer and politician who served as the Speaker of the Parliament of Uganda from 19 May 2011 until 21 May 2021. She was the First Deputy Prime Minister of Uganda and the Minister for East African Community Affairs, in the Cabinet of Uganda

Among further rallied members to stand behind President Yoweri Museveni and other party flagbearers ahead of the 2026 elections.

“Let us return to work, mobilise for our Party leader and flagbearers, and ensure a resounding victory for the mighty NRM. God bless you, and God bless our great NRM.”Among said.

ANITA AMONG,REBECCA KADAGA IN RECONCIALATION

National Resistance Movement was founded as a Liberation Movement that waged a successful protracted people’s struggle that liberated Uganda from fascist and dictatorial regimes.

The National Resistance Movement restored political stability, respect for human rights, national unity, peace, security, law and order, Constitutionalism and the rule of law;

The National Resistance Movement introduced democracy and enfranchised the people of Uganda through restoration of the vote in regular, free and fair elections and politically empowered previously marginalized sections of our society, namely women, youth, elders, people with disabilities and workers to play their rightful role in management of public affairs:

Since inception NRM has established participatory  democracy through a policy of decentralisation and self-governance through local councils, leading to political empowerment of the people and social harmony and operated the Movement Political System, that enhanced the people’s participation in the political, social and economic development of the country.
