In amedia brief Kobusingye pledged to use her platform to champion entrepreneurship and socio-economic transformation.

“Under entrepreneurship, I believe we can do a women’s Sacco and a women’s league,” Kobusingye said,

Meanwhile Enid Mwesigye, wife to Col (Rtd) Fred Mwesigye, won with a landslide  victory in the Women’s League race for Vice Chairperson (Western Uganda), polling 1,704 votes against Peace Kansiime, who trailed far behind with just 23 votes, showcasing the dominance of Kobusingye’s camp in the new leadership structure.

About Kobusingye

Ms. Adrine Kobusingye, is a renowned philanthropist and businesswoman from Bushenyi District, With a background in Development Studies from Makerere University, Kobusingye is determined to liberate Ugandan women from the shackles of societal norms and challenges that hinder their progress.

According to her ,Ugandan women face numerous obstacles, including societal norms that favor male leadership, unequal enforcement of property rights, and election-related violence. Despite progress made through affirmative action, women still lag behind men in representation, employment, and asset ownership. A significant portion of the population believes men should have greater rights to paid work, and women’s autonomy in marriage and reproductive decisions should be restricted.

Kobusingye seeks to serve a purpose of women’s social economic transformation and mindset change. She aims to mentor and empower women into entrepreneurship and political careers, areas dominated by men. As the NRM’s Secretary Publicity for Bushenyi District Women League, Kobusingye has demonstrated her commitment to women’s empowerment.

Kobusingye boasts an impressive background, having served as Board Chairperson of Igara Growers Tea factory, Founding Chairperson of Igara-Buhweju Tea Farmers Sacco (IGABU), and Board Member of Uganda Hotel Owners Association (UHOA). She is also a Rotarian at Major Donor level and is passionate about community transformation, leadership, and fighting poverty.

Kobusingye’s passion for mentoring and empowering young women entrepreneurs is evident in her work. She believes in inspiring mindset change and informed decision-making to drive women’s progress. With her extensive experience and dedication, Kobusingye is well-positioned to lead the NRM Women’s League and drive meaningful change for Ugandan women.
