Centenary Bank has launched the Rotary Club of Mapeera, a move the bank says will enhance its commitment to community development and social responsibility.
Centenary Bank Managing Director Fabian Kasi said the club will give bank employees a formal platform to expand their volunteer work.
“We believe that through the Rotary Club of Mapeera, we shall be able to catalyze even more impactful community projects led by passionate Rotarians who are also part of our Centenary family,” Kasi said.
He added that the club will focus on causes that align with Rotary’s goals, including education, economic development, disease prevention and environmental issues.
Michael Jjingo, the club’s new President and Centenary Bank’s General Manager for commercial banking, said they aimed to create a unique club that is both “intellectual yet formal, structured yet soulful.”
Rotary District 9213 Governor. Geoffrey Martin Kitakule praised the bank for aligning its corporate values with community service.
“What Centenary Bank has done today is a shining example of how institutions can embed service into their DNA,” Kitakule said.
“By launching the Rotary Club of Mapeera, they are giving their people the tools, structure, and global network to serve effectively and sustainably.”he added.
Centenary Bank has a history of partnering with Rotary Uganda on various projects, including sponsoring the annual Rotary Cancer Run and contributing more than 3 billion Ugandan shillings toward the Rotary Centenary Bank Cancer Center.
The formation of the club is part of the bank’s broader Environmental, Social and Governance (ESG) strategy.
