The NRM Secretary General, Rt. Hon. Richard Todwong has commended the government of China for generously contributing to Uganda’s growth and development, as well as the prosperity of Ugandans, through numerous infrastructure projects.

He made this statement today at the NRM Headquarters, located at Plot 10, Kyadondo Road, Kampala, as he hosted a delegation from the Communist Party of China (CPC). The CPC officials led by the Director General of the International Liaisons Department, Ms. Rao Huihoa, are in Uganda to discuss possible avenues to support the ruling NRM in capacity building of human resources.

“We discussed a significant number of fraternal interests. We extended our gratitude to the Communist Party of China for consistently standing with the NRM and the majority of African revolutionary parties, particularly in building their capacities,” Todwong said.

He added that “We have shared a great deal, and they have invited me to Beijing for two days to discuss further issues and attend an international conference that gathers political party leaders from across the globe.”

Todwong who described the CPC visit to the NRM as very fruitful, said the party looks forward to consolidating further discussions in the interest of both Uganda and China.

The engagement at the Headquarters also featured the NRM deputy Secretary General, Rt. Hon. Rose Namayanja, Deputy National Treasurer, Jacqueline Kyatuhiare, Director of External Affairs, Maj. (Rtd) Awich Pollar, NRM Electoral Commission Vice Chairman, Fred Omach and Director of Communication, Hon.Emmanuel Dombo.

The Secretary General of the National Resistance Movement (NRM), Rt. Hon. Richard Todwong, has warmly received a delegation from the Communist Party of China (CPC) to Uganda, led by Ms. Rao Huihoa, Director General of the party’s International Liaison Department.

In his welcoming remarks during last night’s dinner at Serena Hotel, Rt. Hon. Todwong said the NRM and Uganda are pleased to have a strategic and historic bond with the ruling CPC and the government of the People’s Republic of China.

‎”You are most welcome. Your three-day working visit is a huge deal to both of us,” Todwong said.

Earlier in the day, the delegation was welcomed to Uganda upon arrival at Entebbe Airport by Hon. James Tweheyo and Maj. (Rtd) Awich Pollar, the Director of External Affairs.

‎Todwong said, “It is a pleasure to welcome the delegation to Uganda, a peaceful and beautiful nation straddling the equator and blessed with one of the world’s most favourable climates.”

Highlighting the longstanding ties between the NRM and the CPC, Hon. Todwong added:  ‎”Your visit allows us to celebrate our cooperation and explore new avenues for strengthening this partnership.”

He further assured the delegation of Uganda’s stability under President Yoweri Museveni’s leadership, wishing them a “productive and enjoyable stay”.

‎On her part, Ms. Rao Huihoa thanked the NRM leadership for their hospitality and expressed optimism for a successful three-day visit, underscoring the mutual benefits of continued collaboration.
