Kenyan President William Ruto has extended officially apologized to Uganda and Tanzania expressing Kenya’s readiness to rebuild strong ties with her neighbors.
Speaking during the prayer breakfast on Wednesday, May 28, at Safari Park Hotel in Nairobi, President Ruto asked Uganda, Tanzania, and the youth of Kenya for forgiveness.
“Our friends from Uganda, if there is anything Kenyans have done that is not right, we apologize,” he said.
He added, “We want to build relations that will make our country great and take us forward.”
During his speech, President Ruto also encouraged unity and peace across the region. “We thank God for what He is doing for our country. Our economy is stable, and our projects are helping many people,” he said.
He called on leaders to work together, build trust, and support efforts to bring people closer.
The National Prayer Breakfast is an annual event in Kenya that brings together leaders to reflect, pray, and speak about national and regional matters. This year’s event focused on unity, forgiveness, and hope for the future of East Africa.
Recently President Museveni issued a public apology to Ugandans. The Back-to-back apologies signifies President Museveni’s focus on humility, dialogue and mutual respect something that fellow regional leaders like Ruto must have copied from.
