KCB Bank Uganda Limited has bolstered its motorsport team ahead of the 2025 Pearl of Africa Rally Championship, announcing the addition of Mutebi Nasser to its lineup.

The announcement was made at KCB Bank Head Office in Kampala, where the bank also reaffirmed its support for existing drivers Michael George Mukula Jr. and Oscar Ntambi as they aim for victory in this year’s rally.

KCB Bank Uganda announced a sponsorship package of shs270 million (approximately $72,000 USD) for the 2025 Pearl of Africa Rally, underscoring its commitment to promoting sports in Uganda.Of the total sponsorship, 80 million shillings will be allocated to the Federation of Motorsport Clubs of Uganda (FMU) to support event preparations and logistics. The remaining 167 million shillings will directly support the KCB-sponsored drivers.

Edgar Byamah, Managing Director of KCB Bank Uganda, emphasized the bank’s vision for fostering excellence in Ugandan sports.

“The Pearl of Africa Rally is more than just a race — it’s a celebration of skill, endurance, and the resilient spirit of Ugandan motorsport,” Byamah said. “We are proud to deepen our involvement in this iconic event, reaffirming our commitment to nurturing local talent and promoting Uganda’s potential on the regional and global stage.”

Sheila Awori, Acting Head of Marketing and Communications at KCB Bank Uganda, highlighted the bank’s efforts to connect with fans.

“At KCB Bank, we believe in bringing our customers closer to the moments that inspire them,” Awori said. “Through our continued support for the Pearl of Africa Rally and our talented drivers, we are fueling the dreams of many young Ugandans who see themselves in the sport. This year, we are also making it easier for fans to be part of the excitement by enabling rally ticket purchases through KCBPay. By simply dialing 2449#, fans can secure their spot at the heart of the action quickly and safely.”

Speaking on behalf of the KCB rally drivers, Michael George Mukula Jr. expressed his gratitude for the bank’s support.

“We are honored to represent KCB Bank once again this year,” Mukula said. “Their support motivates us to focus on excellent performance, knowing that we have the full backing of a partner that believes in the growth of Ugandan motorsport.”

KCB Bank will also extend its sponsorship at the regional level, supporting prominent Kenyan drivers Karan Patel and Nikhil Sachania, demonstrating the bank’s pan-African commitment to motorsport.

The Pearl of Africa Rally, organized by the FMU, is Uganda’s premier rallying event, attracting the country’s top drivers to compete for national honors.
