As part of thanksgiving Service to Celebrate Church of Uganda’s 50 Years of Social-Economic Transformation in Uganda ,Management launch “ Zimba Lweza Project” an initiative aimed at re-developing Lweza Training and Conference Center into a first world class training center.
Rev. Canon William Ongeng Provincial Secretary says this will include the construction of modern, facilities and systems strengthening to enable Lweza Training and Conference Centre to offer high standard capacity trainings, conferences, hospitality services and impact on community development programs.
“Church of Uganda will hold athanksgiving Service to celebrate 52 years of her role in social-economic transformation in Uganda through its Directorate of Household and Community Transformation (HCT). This will take place on Thursday, 26th March 2026 at Lweza Training and Conference Centre,”
According to him President of Yoweri Kaguta Museveni, will grace the occasion as Chief Guest, while the Archbishop of Church of Uganda, The Most will be the Main Celebrant.
Ongeng says Christians, partners, and well-wishers are invited to participate in the thanks giving and also contribute generously toward the ” CoU-Zimba Lweza Project.
Rev. Agaba Andrew explalned that The Directorate of Household and Community Transformation (HCT) is the social-economic development arm of Church of Uganda, dedicated to improving the livelihoods households and communities by harnessing their potential across the country.
“ The department focuses on empowering communities to become self-reliant through participatory development approaches.Over the years,CoU- HCT has implemented several interventions including: Food security and sustainable livelihoods programs that support households with modern agricultural practices and income-generating activities,”he stated.
Church of uganda has also promoted a saving culture and financial inclusion within communities,skilled development and economic empowerment initiatives that have trained thousands of people in practical skills such as soap making, organic manure production, and other small-scale enterprises.

Through these initiatives, Church of Uganda continues to play a critical role in strengthening families, empowering communities, and contributing to national development.
