Swangz Creative Academy has  held its fourth graduation ceremony at the Uganda Registration Services Bureau (URSB) passing out 100 young creatives from its latest training cohort.

Swangz Avenue is one of the leading Audio and Film Production Companies in Kampala, Uganda and East Africa, also specializing in Video production.

The graduates completed courses in video production, audio production, events management, and digital marketing.

The academy was established to bridge the gap between passion and professional skill within Uganda’s creative industry.

According to Benon Mugumbya  Director at the Academy, the academy equips young talent with practical knowledge and prepares them for real-world opportunities in media, events, and digital production—ultimately contributing to job creation and the growth of Uganda’s creative economy.

“Beyond technical training, students receive career guidance and inspiration from industry leaders,” he stated.

He  urged graduates to start creating immediately, emphasizing that consistent work attracts recognition and opens doors in the industry.

Benon Mugumbya, Swangz Avenue Head of Production, encouraged graduates to be problem-solvers, reliable, teachable, and purposeful, while treating their creative skills as a business.

William Tumwine, Assistant Commissioner Registration Services at URSB, pledged to register their  creative businesses, copyright, and protecting intellectual property.

He emphasized the importance of formalizing creative work to build sustainable careers.

The graduation highlighted the strong collaboration between Swangz Avenue and URSB, aimed at nurturing youth talent, professionalism, and sustainability in Uganda’s creative sector.

As Swangz Creative Academy continues to expand with each edition, it remains a key pillar in shaping Uganda’s future content creators, event professionals, producers, and digital marketers.

This latest graduation adds over 100 skilled creatives to Uganda’s creative economy, equipped with talent, business knowledge, and inspiration to succeed.

Uganda’s creative industry is a rapidly growing, youth-driven sector contributing significantly to economic growth (4.1% of GDP in FY 2022/2023) and employing over 400,000 people. Spanning music, film, fashion, crafts, and digital arts, this sector is increasingly supported by government funding and initiatives designed to foster innovation and sustainable employment

The sector is a vital engine for growth, with 67% of its workforce being youth, offering a solution to high youth unemployment rates. Its contribution to GDP rose from 2.2% in FY 2021/2022 to 4.1% in FY 2022/2023.The government has prioritized the sector, announcing initiatives such as the release of 28 billion UGX to support music, film, fashion, and other creative industries.
