Roofings Group has reaffirmed its corporate commitment to human capital development through a UGX 3.5 billion investment aimed at revitalising infrastructure and elevating academic standards in local schools. Operating under its flagship Forever Education corporate social responsibility (CSR) pillar, the steel manufacturer is currently executing the phased redevelopment of Kasubi Family Primary School in Kampala to secure sustainable, high-quality learning environments for future generations.

The decision to invest heavily in educational infrastructure is driven by a corporate strategy to mitigate systemic barriers to learning, safeguard public institutional property, and foster regional socio-economic growth.

To ensure zero disruption to current learning schedules, Roofings Group is utilizing a phased construction model led by project engineering teams. Pupils are currently

Expands the campus footprint to integrate a dedicated kindergarten section, a multipurpose hall, staff quarters, a medical sick bay, an on-site bakery, a canteen, and professional landscaping.

According to Roofings Group Brand Manager Edwin Abasa, the intervention was designed to transform a public institution that had previously suffered from dilapidated infrastructure and continuous attempts by encroachers to grab its land.

“The school was selected after the company’s leadership assessed its condition and the needs of the surrounding community,” Abasa explained. He noted that the land-related security challenges have since been permanently resolved in partnership with the [Kampala Capital City Authority (KCCA)](https://chimpreports.com/kcca-roofings-group-launch-shs 2-billion-redevelopment-of-kasubi-family-primary-school/), which manages the school. The multi-million shilling redevelopment is being fully funded by Roofings Group as part of its commitment to giving back to the community.

Abasa expressed optimism that Phase One will be completed soon, allowing pupils to move into the brand-new classrooms and clear the way for subsequent site works.

Project Lead Lucky Ninsiima revealed that Phase Two is scheduled to kick off in November 2026. Once Phase One is occupied, the old, dilapidated school structures will be demolished to expand the campus footprint.

“Roofings Group’s ambition goes beyond constructing modern buildings,” Ninsiima stated. “The company simultaneously intends to support long-term improvements in the quality of education and teaching at the school.”

The Kasubi Family Primary School redevelopment reflects a broader, long-term corporate framework. Education stands as one of Roofings Group’s three core sustainability pillars, alongside Forever Forestry and Forever Health.

This initiative follows the company’s successful infrastructure partnership with St. Peter’s School in Namanve (Nantabulirwa). At St. Peter’s, Roofings Group previously invested in structural development and continues to sponsor 30 comprehensive scholarships every term for high-performing learners and underprivileged students from families unable to afford school fees.

Abasa said the project is intended to transform the school, which had previously suffered from dilapidated infrastructure and attempts to grab its land.

Abasa said the redevelopment is being fully funded by the company as part of its commitment to giving back to the community, adding that the project is expected to be completed in phases.

He revealed that Phase One, which comprises the primary school section with 14 classrooms, is approximately 80% complete, while overall project completion stands at about 50%.

Abasa said the company hopes to complete the first phase soon, allowing pupils to move into the new classrooms as construction of the remaining facilities continues.

Through these multi-million shilling interventions, Roofings Group continues to bridge the gap between industrial growth and sustainable community development.

The project lead, Lucky Ninsiima, said the second phase, scheduled to begin in November 2026, will include a kindergarten section, a multipurpose hall, staff quarters, a sick bay, a bakery, a canteen and landscaping.

Ninsiima said Roofings Group’s ambition goes beyond constructing modern buildings, noting that the company also intends to support improvements in the quality of education and teaching at the school.

She added that pupils are currently studying in temporary structures as construction progresses, and the old buildings are expected to be demolished to pave the way for the second phase once the new primary section is ready.

The company also supports St Peter’s School in Namanve, where it previously invested in development and provides about 30 scholarships every term to high-performing learners and those from families unable to afford school fees.

The redevelopment of Kasubi Family Primary School is expected to provide a better learning environment for pupils and strengthen access to education for generations in the surrounding community.
