Nsambya Hospital Kampala Uganda has received advanced neonatal care equipment from the African Neonatal Network (ANN), further strengthening its capacity to provide specialized care for newborns and premature babies.
The donation includes SIPAP machines, T-piece resuscitators, and supraglottic airway masks, critical equipment used in the management of newborns requiring respiratory support and emergency resuscitation during their first moments of life.
The equipment is expected to enhance the hospital’s ability to provide timely and life-saving interventions, particularly for premature babies and newborns experiencing breathing difficulties.

Speaking during the handover, Dr. Victoria Nakibuuka, Resident Neonatologist at Nsambya Hospital, noted that the donation comes at a time when the hospital continues to register a growing demand for specialized neonatal services.
“Nsambya Hospital remains a centre of excellence for neonatal and paediatric care. Our neonatal unit manages and saves over 150 babies every month, many of whom require highly specialized care. This equipment will strengthen our ability to respond effectively and improve outcomes for the babies entrusted to us,” Dr. Nakibuuka said.
For decades, Nsambya Hospital has been a trusted destination for maternal, newborn, and child healthcare, serving families from across Uganda and beyond. The hospital’s neonatal unit is staffed by skilled specialists, nurses, and support teams dedicated to providing round the clock care for newborns requiring intensive medical attention.

The support from the African Neonatal Network is expected to further improve the quality of care available to mothers and their babies while reinforcing efforts to reduce newborn complications and deaths.
Hospital management welcomed the partnership, noting that investments in neonatal care directly contribute to healthier beginnings for children and greater peace of mind for families.
As healthcare continues to evolve, Nsambya Hospital remains focused on combining skilled medical expertise, modern technology, and compassionate patient centered care to ensure every newborn receives the best possible start to life.
