Mugina Karugire, the first grandson of President Yoweri Museveni, has graduated from the University of Exeter in the United Kingdom.

The University of Exeter is a prestigious, research-intensive Russell Group institution in the South West of England.

Karugire is the son of President Museveni’s daughter, Natasha Museveni Karugire, and her husband, Edwin Karugire.

Natasha celebrated her son’s achievement in a social media post, sharing photos from the graduation ceremony and congratulating him on completing his law degree.

She expressed pride in her son and encouraged him to remain close to God, asking for God’s guidance and protection throughout his life.

The University of Exeter is a leading UK institution known for its academic and research strengths in areas including sports science, mining engineering and climate change.

Meanwhile Edwin Karugire is a Ugandan corporate lawyer and founding partner of K&K Advocates in Kampala, where he heads the transactions department.

With over 20 years of experience in international and domestic corporate and commercial practice, Karugire specializes in mergers and acquisitions, joint ventures, banking and finance, technology, taxation, public-private partnerships, and insolvency.

He has led complex transactions, including major telecommunication acquisitions in Uganda and cross-border joint ventures across sectors such as technology, fast-moving consumer goods, pharmaceuticals, media, security printing, agriculture, and manufacturing.

Karugire holds a Master of Laws incorporate lawyer from the University of London (Queen Mary and University College London), a Postgraduate Diploma in Legal Practice from the Law Development Centre and a Bachelor of Laws (Honours) from Makerere University.

Karugire pursued advanced legal studies following his undergraduate education, earning a Master of Laws (LLM) in Commercial and Corporate Law from the University of London. This qualification was attained through programs at Queen Mary University of London and University College London, providing specialized training in areas critical to his subsequent professional focus on international commercial transactions and corporate governance.
