President Yoweri Museveni has commended Ugandans who are setting projects to boost Education in the country and promised that the government will always support them.

“Institutions like St. Vincent Model College play a pivotal role in nurturing the minds and talents of our youth, preparing them to contribute meaningfully to Uganda’s growth. This college stands as a symbol of what we can achieve when government, religious institutions, and communities collaborate. I commend the efforts of all stakeholders who have worked tirelessly to bring this vision to a reality. The government remains steadfast in its commitment to supporting education institutions,” the statement read in part.

The message was delivered by the Rt. Hon. Robinah Nabbanja, the Prime Minister of Uganda who had represented the President at the inauguration of St. Vincent Model College at Kivuuvu village, Maanyi Sub County, Mityana District.

The President said that the NRM government is ensuring that all children acquire education through initiatives like Universal Primary and secondary Education and asked the students and parents to embrace all the opportunities available.

PRIME MINISTER ROBINAH NABANJA REPRESENTING THE PRESIDENT

“As government, our responsibility remains to guarantee every Ugandan child, regardless of background, access to quality and affordable education. That is why we continue to invest in Universal Primary Education (UPE), Universal Secondary Education (USE), and Public Universities,” he said.

Museveni warned teachers operating in Government-Aided schools to stop, forthwith, charging any fees that have contributed to high school dropout rates in the country.

“Let me emphasize that the illegal charges in our Government-Aided schools are unacceptable and it has to stop and no child should be sent home because of failure to pay such illegal fees,” read the statement.

The President urged school administrations to uphold the highest standards of academic excellence and moral integrity.

He noted that over the past three decades, Uganda has witnessed a rapid expansion of the Private Education sector.

He said that Private individuals, religious institutions, and organizations have partnered with government to extend education services to all corners of our nation.  “Today, private schools and higher institutions of learning complement government institutions in enrolling millions of learners at all levels,” he said.

“This growth has not come by accident. It is a reflection of the NRM government enabling policies that have seen both qualitative and quantitative growth in education.  We welcome private investment in education, for it brings innovation, competition, and the much-needed resources into our system,” he added.

The NRM government under the wise leadership of H.E Gen. Yoweri Museveni is prioritizing skilling Ugandans as one way of addressing the challenge of unemployment.

“Let this institution be a sanctuary where students not only acquire knowledge but also cultivate values of discipline, respect, and patriotism for their country Uganda. Together, we can build a brighter future for our children and our country,” said the president.

The President cautioned students to stay healthy while in school and live responsibly even when out of school.

Nabbanja, responding to issues raised by the leaders assured them that government will address the poor and dilapidated Mityana-Banda-Kanoni Road which has remained in a sorry state for some years.

However, she said that the leaders in the area have not informed government about such critical issues and are only politicking so that the people can hate government.

The school was constructed by the former State Minister in charge of Economic Monitoring in the Office of the President, Vincent Nyanzi.

While delivering his message, Nyanzi read a number of Catholic and Anglican Churches which are running construction projects and asked President Museveni to support him with one thousand Iron sheets to be shared among the Projects.

Nyanzi also used the opportunity to officially declare that he was returning in the race as the Busujju County Member of Parliament in the coming 2026 elections on the NRM ticket.

“I had told you that I will never return to politics but it was a trick as I wanted to see what others can do but now we have seen that they are not doing anything and we are lagging behind, so I’m returning,” he said.
