The certification is the global standard for information security management, developed by the International Organization for Standardization and the International Electrotechnical Commission. It provides a framework for organizations to identify, assess and manage information security risks.
The bank’s systems underwent an independent assessment by Certi-Trust, an accredited certification body, to verify compliance with international best practices. The certification covers systems designed to protect customer information, manage cybersecurity risks and strengthen operational resilience across the bank.
Mike Kamau, managing director of Certi-Trust, congratulated Pride Bank on the achievement but noted that maintaining the standard requires ongoing effort.

Certification is not the end of the journey, Kamau said. The business environment is constantly changing, technology is evolving, regulations continue to change, and organizations must adapt accordingly.
Kamau added that the true value of the certification lies in fostering a culture of continuous improvement. Pride Bank will now be listed in Certi-Trust’s global certification directory, and the body will conduct annual surveillance audits to ensure compliance.
Pride Bank officials said the certification follows years of investment in governance, technology and staff training. The bank noted that information security has been integrated into its strategic decision-making and operational procedures across all departments.

As an indigenous commercial bank in Uganda, Pride Bank is expanding its digital services, including mobile and internet banking. Bank officials stated that the new certification reinforces their commitment to corporate governance and regulatory compliance while protecting customer data against increasingly sophisticated cyber threats.
Formally operating for 30 years as Pride Microfinance Limited, it rebranded to Pride Bank after securing its expanded banking license. Wholly government-owned, it focuses on financial inclusion, agriculture, and MSMEs through 47 branches nationwide
