National Water and Sewerage Corporation has launched 11.4 billion project to upgrade water supply network in Kanungu, District.. NWSC officials told this website that the 18-month project aims to expand service to 282,000 people, up from the current 216,893. The investment follows years of water rationing caused by a system that produces 1.5 million liters per day despite a demand for 3 million liters. The Uganda Electricity Distribution Company Limited (UEDCL) has completed a major upgrade of the Kampala South Substation, increasing its capacity from 20 megawatts to 34 megawatts in a move aimed at reducing power outages and meeting rapidly rising electricity demand along the Entebbe Road corridor. The substation, one of the busiest in Kampala, had been operating under strain after demand climbed to 20.45 megawatts—exceeding the capacity of its original 15/20-megawatt transformer—raising the risk of frequent power interruptions for households and businesses. President Yoweri Museveni has pledged to inject sh 5billion into mechanics’ Savings and Credit Cooperatives (SACCOs) in the five divisions of Kampala.
