President Yoweri Museveni has chaired the first Cabinet meeting of his newly constituted government for the 2026–2031 term, following the swearing-in of the new government on June 8, 2026, and a 10-day Cabinet Induction Retreat held at the National Leadership Institute (NALI) in Kyankwanzi.
President Yoweri Museveni’s current five-year agenda (2026–2031) focuses on four main pillars: eradicating poverty through wealth creation, free education, improving healthcare delivery, and intensifying the fight against corruption
The inaugural Cabinet session brought together senior government officials, including Vice President Jessica Alupo, Prime Minister Robinah Nabbanja, Deputy Prime Ministers, Government Chief Whip Dr Jane Ruth Aceng, Cabinet Ministers, Ministers of State and other senior public officers.

Also present were NRM Secretary General Richard Todwong, Permanent Secretaries from various ministries, Kampala Capital City Authority (KCCA) Executive Director Hajjat Sharifah Buzeki and Senior Presidential Advisor on Defence and Security Issues Lt Gen Proscovia Nalweyiso.
The meeting marked the beginning of collective government business under President Museveni’s new administration following his swearing-in for another constitutional term on May 12, 2026.

Uganda’s Cabinet derives its mandate from Article 111 of the Constitution of the Republic of Uganda, 1995 (as amended), which provides for the establishment of Cabinet comprising the President, Vice President, Prime Minister and other ministers appointed as necessary for the efficient running of government.
The 83-member Cabinet is expected to lead the implementation of government programmes and deliver on the administration’s priorities during the 2026–2031 term with major emphasis on mass wealth creation ,expanding the economy by heavily investing oil revenues into infrastructure and prioritizing local processing of raw materials (like coffee and gold) for export and providing free education in all government schools and ensuring a reliable supply of essential medicines in public health facilities.
The president also intends to allocate billions in funding to youth skilling programs at centers across the Kampala Capital City Authority and boosting agricultural productivity,enforce stricter accountability in government programs to eliminate complacency and corruption. and maintain national peace while expanding regional and continental market access
