EC GAZETTES PRESIDENT MUSEVENI VICTORY

The Independent Electoral Commission has officially gazetted the results of the 2026 Presidential General Election, confirming President Yoweri Kaguta Museveni of the National Resistance Movement (NRM) as the winner.

According to The Uganda Gazette Extraordinary published on February 6, 2026, Museveni garnered 7,946,772 votes, defeating seven other candidates in the presidential race.

The notice, issued in Kampala on January 30, 2026, was signed by Justice Byabakama Mugenyi Simon, Chairperson of the Electoral Commission.

The gazetted results indicate that Kyagulanyi Ssentamu Robert of the National Unity Platform (NUP) emerged second with 2,741,238 votes, followed by Nandala Mafabi James Nathan of the Forum for Democratic Change (FDC), who secured 209,039 votes.

Other candidates included Bulira Frank Kabinga of the Revolutionary Peoples Party (RPP) with 45,959 votes, Kasibante Robert of the National Peasant Party (NPP) with 33,440 votes, Mugisha Gregory Muntu Ojera of the Alliance for National Transformation (ANT) who received 59,276 votes, Muhirizi Joseph of the Conservative Party (CP) with 23,458 votes, and Munyagwa Mubarak Sserunga of the Common Man’s Party (CMP) with 31,666 votes.

The results were published in accordance with Section 59(3) of the Presidential Elections Act, Cap. 179, under General Notice No. 244 of 2026.

The gazette publication formally confirms the presidential election outcome and sets the stage for subsequent constitutional processes following the polls.
