Preparations are underway for the 12th Coronation Anniversary of His Majesty the Kyabazinga of Busoga, William Gabula Nadiope IV.
The celebrations will take place on Saturday, 13th September 2026, at the Mayuge District Headquarters, Bunha chiefdom.
Speaking to the press on Saturday at the ObwaKyabazinga Bwa Busoga (OBB) headquarters on 15th August 2026, Busoga Kingdom Prime Minister Owek. Dr. Joseph Muvawala announced that the Kyabazinga has appointed a 16-member organising committee to oversee the event.
The committee will be chaired by Owek. Richard Mafumo, Head of Clans (Isabakunganhia) in Busoga Kingdom, with Rt. Hon. Rukia Isanga Nakadama, Woman Member of Parliament for Mayuge District and Uganda’s Third Deputy Prime Minister, serving as co-chair.
Dr. Muvawala urged all Basoga, both those living in the region and those in the diaspora, to turn up in large numbers to honour their King and celebrate their heritage.
He also said the Kingdom would on that day clarify the official protocols for singing the Busoga Anthem to promote unity and dignity during the ceremony.
The anniversary will be held under the theme “Strengthening our cultural values and norms for development” (“Okunweza obughangwa Nhe noono dhaiffe kulwa e’nkulankulana”), according to the Head of Busoga Clans and Minister for Culture, Owek. Mafumo.
He called on the people of Busoga to embrace and love their culture, describing it as the foundation for development in the region.
Present at the press conference was the Isabalangira of Busoga (Chief Prince) Nkuutu Samuel Zirabamuzale, Prince Godfrey Mutyaba Nkono from Bukono chiefdom, Prince Geoffrey Luba from Bunha chiefdom, Ivan Tibenkana the Katukiro of Butembe chiefdom, Owek. Andrew Ntange, the Busoga Kingdom’s spokesperson, and Owek Alex Luganda, the Kingdom’s Constitutional Affairs Minister.
