The National Identification and Registration Authority (NIRA) has announced that over 5.3 million Ugandans have so far renewed their National Identification Cards (IDs). Addressing journalists in Ksmpala, NIRA Registrar General Claire Ollama described the turnout as encouraging. “Ugandans have spoken with their feet. Over 5.3 million of you have already shown up to renew your National IDs. That’s no small feat,” Ollama said. Ex-Kampala Woman Member of Parliament, Hon. Nabilah Naggayi, has declared her intention to contest for the Kampala Lord Mayor seat in the upcoming elections. Speaking on Sanyuka TV on Monday morning, Naggayi confirmed she will run as an independent candidate, distancing herself from any political party. “I haven’t given up. In a bid to raise civlc education among the general public, Electoral Commission (EC) has taken its voter education and outreach campaign to farmers in Jinja currently attending the 31st National Agricultural Show. Moses Hassim Magogo has been re-elected President of the Federation of Uganda Football Associations (FUFA) for another term 2025–2029 at the 101st FUFA Ordinary General Assembly in Hoima Resort Hotel. City philanthropist King Ceasor Augustus Mulenga has been nominated to contest for the position of Chairperson of the Entrepreneurs League within the ruling National Resistance Movement (NRM) party’s Central Executive Committee.
