The National Resistance Movement (NRM) has taken note of a TikTok video circulated by one Fred Lumbuye, which falsely claims to display alternative presidential election results allegedly placing Hon Robert Kyagulanyi in the lead. Chief Justice Alfonse Owiny-Dollo has officially retired from judicial service after clocking mandatory retirement age of 70 years at Uganda Judiciary. Owiny-Dollo stepped down on Sunday concluding a judicial career that began in 2008 when he was appointed a judge of the High Court. He later served on the Court of Appeal before being elevated to Deputy Chief Justice in 2017, and subsequently assumed office as Chief Justice in August 2020. Justice Simon Byabakama ,Chairperson of Independent Electoral Commission will announce winner of Uganda’s presidential election within 48 hours after voting ends. Ugandans are scheduled to vote on Thursday, January 15, 2026, to elect the President and Members of Parliament. Uganda Police Force has issued a strong appeal for calm, restraint, and peaceful participation in the electoral process.
