 Commissioner for Water Resources Planning in the Ministry of Water and Environment Dr Callist Tindimugaya has won the inaugural Uganda Wash Lifetime Achievement Award.

 The Uganda WASH Impact and Influence Awards are a national initiative launched by the Uganda Water and Sanitation Network in collaboration with key government ministries, to recognize and celebrate individuals and organizations making significant contributions to the Water, Sanitation, and Hygiene (WASH) sector in Uganda.

“These awards honor change-makers in areas like programmatic impact, youth-led initiatives, technological innovation, research, media excellence, and lifetime achievement, with the goal of inspiring action, amplifying success stories, and fostering sustainable WASH solutions,’’Yunia Musaazi said.

  According to her the Purpose of the Awards is to honor individuals, organizations, and innovations that have shown remarkable dedication and made substantial positive changes in the WASH sector. 

“The awards showcases and promotes the success stories of those working to improve water, sanitation, and hygiene access, galvanizes more action and encourage the development and implementation of innovative and sustainable WASH solutions to raise public awareness about the importance of WASH and the ongoing efforts to address the sector’s challenges,”Musaazi stressed.

Rotary Uganda Scooped the converted Wash Financing Category,Makerere University Antimicrobial Resistance Club took Youth Led Initiative Award, Amref took home the Programmatic Impact award and Community Integrated Development Initiative among others.

 Meanwhile several water experts Including Dr Callist Tindimugaya received Lifetime WASH achievement Award for his dedicated contribution to water sector.

The awards were launched by UWASNET in partnership with the Ministry of Water and Environment, Ministry of Health, and Ministry of Education and Sports, among other development partners. The initiative serves as a national movement to institutionalize recognition and influence within Uganda’s WASH ecosystem.

Dr. Callist Tindimugaya is a Water Resources Specialist working with the Ministry of Water and Environment in Uganda. He is currently working as the Head of the Department for Water Resources Planning and Regulation with overall responsibility for ensuring sustainable and equitable utilization and protection of water resources. Dr. Tindimugaya coordinated the successful piloting of SDG6 indicator monitoring methodology in Uganda and continues to coordinate SDG6 indicator baseline data collection in Uganda.
