PROF LAWRENCE MUGANGA TO RECEIVE GLOBAL IMPACT AWARD

Prof. Lawrence Muganga, Vice Chancellor of Victoria University Kampala, is slated to receive the Global Impact Award at the upcoming Excellence Awards 2025 at the Meridian Arts Centre in Toronto, Canada

The Excellence Awards to be presented by Afroglobal Television, is an annual gala celebrating outstanding achievements by individuals of African descent and global influencers.

The awards underscore themes of innovation, leadership, and community impact, drawing attendees from diverse sectors including education, business, and the arts.

Prof. Muganga, a Ugandan-Canadian scholar and digital economy educationist, has built a distinguished career bridging continents.

Born in Uganda, he earned accolades as a professor of education and international curriculum speaker, with experience at the University of Alberta in Canada.

Since his appointment, as VI E chancellor of Victoria University,he has spearheaded bold reforms at Victoria University, including the establishment of Uganda’s first Virtual Reality (VR) and Augmented Reality (AR) Learning and Innovation Hub.

His initiatives emphasize practical, skills-driven learning powered by AI and emerging technologies, addressing Africa’s educational challenges and preparing graduates for the global job market.The importance of this event lies in its platform for amplifying African innovation. Afroglobal Television’s awards not only honor individual excellence but also foster international dialogue on issues like education equity and technological advancement.

For Muganga, whose previous honors include the Best Innovative Educator in Uganda (2022), Diaspora Education Research Excellence Award (2019), and a Pan-African Education Award (2023), this global nod affirms his role as a visionary leader redefining higher education.

Muganga is optimistic that the global impact Award will elevate his international profile and open doors for further collaborations, research funding, and policy influence.

“For Victoria University, a institution known for its high employer satisfaction rates—over 97% of employers praise graduate preparedness—this recognition enhances its reputation as East Africa’s pioneer in experiential and tech-enabled learning. It could attract more international students, partnerships, and investments, boosting Uganda’s education sector amid calls for reform,” he stated .
