PAUL KAGAME CONGRATULATES PRESIDENT MUSEVENI ON HIS RE-ELECTION

The President of Rwanda, Paul Kagame has  congratulated to Uganda’s President-elect Yoweri Kaguta Museveni following his re-election in the 2026 presidential election.

In a message shared via his social media account on X, Kagame expressed his well-wishes to Museveni and the people of Uganda.

“I extend my best wishes to you and the people of Uganda as you continue to serve your nation for the prosperity of your people. I look forward to the continued strong and productive cooperation between our two countries.”he said.

On Saturday, the Independent Electoral Commission of Uganda, led by Justice Simon Byabakama, officially declared Yoweri Kaguta Museveni the winner of Uganda’s 2026 presidential election.

The announcement marked another term for President Museveni, following an overwhelming victory at the polls.

The Electoral Commission confirmed that Museveni, who ran on the National Resistance Movement (NRM) ticket, secured 7,946,772 votes, or 71.65% of the total valid votes cast. The results were officially declared by the Electoral Commission Chairperson, Justice Simon Mugenyi Byabakama, at the National Tally Centre in Lubowa.

The opposition leader and National Unity Platform (NUP) presidential candidate, Robert Kyagulanyi Ssentamu,  finished second with 2,741,238 votes, representing 24.72% of the vote.

PRESIDENT MUSEVENI AND EGYPT PRESIDENT

Meanwhile Egypt President, Abdel Fattah al-Sisi d reaffirmed commitment to further close ties between Egypt and Uganda.

“I express my congratulations to my brother and friend, His Excellency President Yoweri Kaguta Museveni, on the occasion of his re-election for a new presidential term, which reflects the confidence of the Ugandan people in his wise leadership,” Al Sisi said.

“I also reaffirm Egypt’s keenness to continue strengthening the fraternal ties of cooperation between our two countries, in a manner that serves the interests of our peoples and contributes to achieving stability and development across the African continent,” Al Sisi stated

Others who congratulated President Museveni include Hassan Sheikh Mohamud from  Somalia commended President Museveni’s leadership under which Uganda has recorded notable progress in national development and played a significant role in promoting peace and stability within the region.

“I reaffirm Somalia’s commitment to strengthening our brotherly ties with Uganda,” he said.

They all pledged   continued strong and productive cooperation between member countries,

Yoweri Kaguta Museveni  is a Ugandan politician  who, since 1986, is the ninth president of Uganda.

As of 2025 records  he is the third-longest serving current leader in the world.
