President Yoweri Museveni has hailed Speaker of Parliament, Rt Hon Anita Among,for winning CEC National Female Chairperson election position.
Among defeated Rebecca Kadaga with land slide victory in a hotly contested race for the position of 2nd National Vice Chairperson (Female).
She garnered 11,680 votes against Kadaga’s 902, out of the 12,582 ballots cast at Kololo Independence Grounds on Tuesday night.
In a message shared on his official X (formerly Twitter) account, President Museveni commended Among’s triumph, describing it as a vote of confidence by the party.
“I congratulate the Rt. Hon. Anita Among upon being elected the Second National Vice Chairperson (Female) for the NRM,” Museveni stated.
The victory strengthens Among’s influence within the NRM’s top leadership structure, positioning her as a key figure in shaping party strategy ahead of the 2026 general elections.
The election also marked a significant political moment, as it pitted Uganda’s two most prominent women leaders in recent parliamentary history against each other, drawing widespread attention both within and outside the party.
Anita Annet Among (born 23 November 1973) is a Ugandan accountant, lawyer and politician who is the Speaker of the 11th Parliament of Uganda since 2022.
