FENON ENTERTAINMENT EXPANDS TO KENYA MARKET

Uganda’s leading events powerhouse, Fenon Events has spread its wings beyond borders with expansion plans into Nairobi, Kenya in a strategic move aimed at serving the wider East African market.

Uganda’s entertainment and events business is experiencing

significant, rapid growth, driven by a surge in digital content adoption, a young demographic, and deliberate government investment to position the country as a regional hub. The sector, which includes music, film, comedy, and MICE (Meetings, Incentives, Conferences, and Exhibitions), has become a key driver of economic activity and job creation, with arts and entertainment’s contribution to GDP growing to 4.1% in FY 2022/2023

·Uganda aims to be a top-five African destination for MICE by 2028/29, holding about 21% of the East African MICE market.

Uganda is ranked 3rd in Africa for entertainment, comedy, and nightlife. The industry is moving beyond traditional performances to digital monetization, with platforms like Mdundo and Spotify allowing artists to monetize music.

Events like the Nyege Nyege Festival, the Kampala City Festival, and the Uganda One Festival are major economic boosters, bringing in billions of shillings. The 2024 Nyege Nyege festival alone generated 6.62 billion UGX
