EQUITY BANK,NARO 5TH EDITION OF GOLF TOURNAMENT IN WAKISO

Equity Bank Uganda, in partnership with the National Agricultural Research Organization (NARO), have officially launched the 5th Edition of the Equity NARO Golf Open 2025. a three-day golf tournament which will take place from the 27th-29th November. at the Mary Louise Simkins Memorial Golf Club, Namulonge.

The Mary Louise Simkins Memorial Golf Club has earned a strong reputation as a breeding ground for emnerging golf talent in Uganda. Located within the country’s largest agricultural research center, the 9-hole course provides an ideal environment for training and skill developmet.

This year the tournament will run under the theme ” Swinging to 17 Years of Equity Bank Growth,” whict will be in celebration of the 17 years of Equity Bank’s success, impact, and partnerships in Uganda’s financia sector.

The event will bring together golfers, corporate leaders, customers and community partners for competitive sport, networking, and celebration.

Speaking at the launch held at the iconic 9-hole, 70-par Namulonge course, Equity Bank reaffirmed its: commitment to supporting sports development, community engagement, and customer-focused initiatives.

“This year’s tournament is not just another edition; it carries with it a deep and meaningful milestone. Equit Bank ‘is celebrating 17 years Of serving the people of Uganda. Seventeen years of growth, partnership nnovation, and shared prosperity. Seventeen ” years of walking hand in hand with individuals, families, and pusinesses to transform lives and livelihoods,” said Claver Serumaga, the Executive Director of Equity Bank

“To honor this milestone, the 17th hole of the tournament will be symbolically branded as the Equity 17th Hole representing every step of progress that we have made together with our customers, partners, and communities”he added.

Serumaga emphasized that Swinging to 17 Years of transforming lives,” beautifully captures the spirit of both golf and Equity BANK journey.

“Golf teaches us strategy, discipline, resilience, and patience, the very qualities that have defined Equity’s mission and service to Ugandan,”he explained.

“Over the years, the Equity NARO Open has grown from a simple stakeholder engagement activity into one of the most respected tournaments in the Central region. It attracts seasoned professionals, emerging talent, corporate partners, and families who believe in the power of sport to unite and uplift,”he stressed.

This growth is anchored in the strong and enduring partnership between Equity Bank Uganda and the National Agricultural Research Organisation (NARO). Together, we affirm one truth: Progress in banking, in agriculture, or in sport, is greatest when organisations unite with purpose and shared ambition.

“Golfers and spectators can look forward to three days of high-level competition, networking opportunities, and a celebratory atmosphere around the course. There will be special activities at the 17th Hole, in honor of our 17-year milestone,”he stated.

He also extended appreciation to the Marylouise Simkins Golf club management team, partners, the media, the golfing fraternity, and the entire Namulonge community for  continued collaboration  during the tournaments
