Security Operatives investigating corruption scandals at Uganda’s Parliament have arrested Chris Obore Parliament Director for Communication in Mukono District.

Obore was allegedly picked up by operatives over claims tied to corruption, money laundering and abuse of public resources rocking Parliament’s top circles.

Member of Parliament and Special Senior Presidential Advisor on Greater Masaka Affair Justine Nameere i too was  arrested in Masaka during her swearing in celebrations.

Today ajoint security team led by the Criminal Investigations Directorate  tsearched the residence of former Speaker of Parliament Anita Annet Among as investigations into alleged illicit enrichment and money laundering intensify.

The operation, spearheaded by CID headquarters with support from the Uganda People’s Defence Forces and other security agencies, follows reports that President Yoweri Kaguta Museveni ordered a probe into the former Speaker’s wealth and financial dealings.

Investigators are reportedly pursuing lines of inquiry centred on suspected illicit enrichment, corruption, and money laundering. Security operatives conducted a detailed search at Among’s residence as part of efforts to gather evidence linked to the ongoing investigations.

Joint security teams raided and sealed off her upscale residences in Nakasero, Kololo, and Kigo to secure documents and financial records.This will be extended to Bukedea her home District.

The IGG is actively reviewing a petition filed by Kampala-based lawyers alleging that Among violated the Leadership Code Act. Petitioners are heavily scrutinizing her assets, including a luxury Rolls-Royce Cullinan.

The Parliament of Uganda is the supreme legislative and oversight public institution of the country. Operating under the 1995 Constitution, its primary mandates are to pass laws for good governance, approve the national budget and loans, and scrutinize government policies

Key findings by Security Agencies

When the Current Speaker took office she increased the Speakers Office budget, from 4 Billion Shillings to 18 Billion Shillings.

According to Parliamentary records the Speaker travelled to Italy for 4 days and spent 98 Million Shillings.

Records shows that the current Speaker travelled to Kenya for 30 Days and was paid 498 Million shillings.

The current speaker gave her Bukedea Radio, Maàma Bukedea 3 Billion shillings to do Parliamentary work,Uganda taxpayers paid 900 Million Shillings, for the Speakers house furniture.
