The Minister of State for Trade, David Bahati, has challenged the Business Community to embrace innovation, excellence and customer satisfaction in abid to create more jobs and accelerate Uganda’s economic transformation agenda.
Uganda’s primary economic aspiration is the Ten fold growth strategy that aims to expand the economy from roughly $50 billion to $500 billion by 2040
Guided by Vision 2040 and the Fourth National Development Plan (NDP IV), this plan focuses on moving the country from a low-income to a competitive upper-middle-income nation.
Officiating at the second addition of Business Excellence Awards held in Kampala Minister Bahati said businesses have a critical role to play in creating employment and driving Uganda’s economic growth and aspiration.
“We must continue building businesses that create jobs, drive innovation and contribute to Uganda’s growth and transformation,” Bahati said.
Event Organiser Agnes Alowo said the awards are intended to promote excellence and encourage businesses to improve the quality of their products and services.
“Through the Business Excellence Awards, we continue to champion excellence, innovation and customer satisfaction across Uganda’s business community,” Alowo said.
“ Business Awards recognise companies and individuals for outstanding performance, innovation and excellence across various sectors of Uganda’s business community,”she stated.
Speaking at the same event Minister of State for National Guidance, Alioni Yorke Odria assured entrepreneurs of continued government support to strengthen the private sector’s contribution to national development.
Under the theme “Celebrating Excellence, Inspiring Innovation.” atotal of 70 companies and individual received the awards including Stabex International Limited, Sadolin Paint, Spiro Uganda, Movit Products,Euro Refinery and Bidco Uganda among others.
SPIRO Uganda scooped the 2026 Platinum Winner in the Best Manufacturer and Distributor of Electric Motorcycles Category.
Receiving the award on behalf of SPIRO Uganda,Rapa Thomson Ricky dedicated the recognition to customers who have embraced the company’s electric motorcycles.
“This award is for all our customers who have chosen Spiro, ridden with us, believed in electric mobility, and continue to be part of our journey,” he said.
Spiro is Africa’s largest electric vehicle company, specializing in eco-friendly electric motorbikes and automated battery-swapping infrastructure
In Uganda, Spiro operates an assembly plant in the Namanve Industrial Park, scaling up local green mobility to reduce carbon emissions and fossil fuel dependency
