Justice and Constitutional Affairs Minister, Hon Norbert Mao, has directed the Electoral Commission to withhold all disbursements of public funds to political parties until new statutory instruments under the amended Political Parties and Organisations Act are in place. Ministry of Lands, Housing, and Urban Development (MLHUD), has processed and issued at least 57,325 freehold Certificates of titles under the World Bank supported Systematic Land Adjudication And Certification (SLAAC) programme. Bukedea received 9,726; Serere 6,606; Soroti 4,176; Kimuli 4,295; Luuka 488; Isingiro 1,906 and Ntungamo 8,231. Meanwhile additional 1,418 were given to Kikuube and 20,478 titles for Maracha. Uganda Revenue Authority (URA) has exceeded its target for the 2024/2025 financial year, collecting Shs31.63 trillion over Shs262 billion more than its goal of Shs31.37 trillion. URA Commissioner General John Musinguzi Rujoki said the success came from a strong economy, better tax collection methods, and honest taxpayers. “We’re excited to announce URA beat its target by over Shs262 billion,” Musinguzi said. “This is thanks to our hardworking team, government support, and loyal taxpayers.”he added. President Donald Trump has set a 25 percent tax on goods imported from Japan and South Korea, effective August 1st. Trump provided notice by posting letters on Truth Social that were addressed to the leaders of the various countries.
