A total of 817,930 candidates are expected to sit for this year’s Primary Leaving Examinations starting with a national briefing on Friday,Uganda Nattional EXAMINATION Board Public Relations Officer Jennipher Kalule has revealed. Meanwhile UNEB  has deployed 150 district monitors to oversee the process of Primary Leaving Examinations (PLE). Busoga Kingdom has reaffirmed its commitment to collaborating with organizations and individuals to combat the growing burden of cancer particularly among women. Deputy Prime Minister Hajji Noor Ahmed Osman told the gathering at the 7th Annual Women’s Cancer Run, organized by Rays of Hope Hospice Jinja (RHHJ). Hajji Osman who led a group of 5km walkers emphasized the significance of collective action in raising awareness about cervical and breast cancer, which disproportionately affect women in the Busoga sub-region. “Unheard” Uganda made movie has scooped three honours at the Bantu Film Festival in Gaborone, Botswana. The National Identification and Registration Authority (NIRA) has finally dispatched over five million National Identity Cards to various districts following the recent mass enrollment exercise. In May 2025, NIRA embarked on a mass registration and renewal exercise targeting 15.8 million National IDs set to expire by June 2025, and aimed to register 17.2 million new applicants, including children under 17 years and citizens who missed the 2014 registration. The world’s oldest Head of State, Cameroon’s President Paul Biya, 92, has been re-election extend his 43 years in power. He added that his decision to go for an eighth term came after “numerous and insistent” calls by people from all regions in Cameroon and the diaspora.
