The Electoral Commission (EC) has dismissed a petition challenging the nomination of Brig. Gen. Emmanuel Rwashande as a candidate for the Lwemiyaga County parliamentary race, clearing him to contest in the 2026 elections. The decision, communicated in a Dec. 3 letter signed by EC Chairperson Justice Simon Byabakama, followed a complaint by incumbent MP Theodore Ssekikubo. He had alleged Rwashande lacked the requisite academic credentials and failed to secure the minimum number of nominators required under Ugandan law. Electoral Commission has nullified the nomination sexy Kakwanzi Elizabeth from Western Region Youth 2026 parliamentary race. In a letter dated 23rd November 2025 (Ref: LEG 75/79/01) and signed by the Chairperson of the Electoral Commission, Justice Simon Byabakama Mugenyi, the Commission announced that Kakwanzi’s nomination was void ab initio after sustaining a complaint lodged under Section 15 of the Electoral Commission Act, Cap 176.
