Airtel Africa has announced a 12% growth in mobile data revenue for its East African region, for the first quarter ending June 30th, 2024. The region comprises six countries including; Uganda, Kenya, Tanzania, Rwanda, Malawi and Zambia. The company’s East Africa mobile data revenue increased to $170 million during the quarter, up from $151 million during the same period the previous year. Airtel Africa attributed the growth to significant expansion in the East African mobile data market. Data usage per customer surged by 25.1% to 6.2 GB, generating revenue of US$409 million. Victoria University, leaders in offering digital learning solutions, is set to pioneer Uganda’s Artificial intelligence (AI) learning in their academic modules,Vice Chancellor Dr. Lawrence Muganga has revealed. Dr. Muganga says embracing artificial intelligence not only modernizes learning but also aligns with broader goals of sustainability and adaptability. Uganda Bureau of Statistics has so far paid 114,327 census enumerators out of 115,846 enumerators hired to conduct 2024 Population and Housing Census exercise, UBOS Executive Director Dr Chris Mukiza revealed. In a media briefing in Kampala Mukiza said this amounted to shs 88.7billion.The census was 99%supported by government of Uganda with a total of shs 328.74billion. The Mengo Establishment took political control of Buganda from 1892 to 1966. The pro-colonial Katikiro Kagwa allied with Capt. Lugard whose maxim gun helped to bring an end to 12 years of religious wars. Lugard depicted the Anglican faith as a crusade for heaven but in reality seeking earthy political and economic benefits. The Uganda Law Society (ULS) has expressed deep concern and sorrow over the devastating incident that occurred on in Kiteezi, where a garbage mound collapsed, leading to the tragic loss of over 20 lives.
