Ex Kyambogo University lecturer, Dr. Eron Lawrence, has been committed to the High Court for trial over allegations of defiling a 16-year-old visually impaired girl. The High Court in Kampala has delivered a significant ruling regarding a contentious service award granted to former Leader of Opposition (LOP) Mathias Mpuuga and three backbench parliamentary commissioners. In a ruling by Justice Douglas Karekona Singiza, the court upheld the decision made on May 6, 2022, which awarded UGX 500 million to Mpuuga and UGX 400 million each to commissioners Solomon Silwany, Prossy Mbabazi, and Esther Afoyochan. Japanese Ambassador to Uganda Sasayama Takuya has committed to fund both the second phase of the Kampala Fly Over project and the construction of a new state-of-the-art bridge at Karuma Waterfalls.
